| I started writing when I was a kid, probably no more then 7 or 8, not alot back then but a little poem or song every so often . It seemed to fade through my early teens, but came back in high school, ..later in my mid 20s I began writing seriously, and somewhat obsessively. I regimented myself and literally forced myself to write every day whether i had any inspiration or not..I dont recommend it to anyone wanting to write..I personally seem to enjoy misery and pain and forcing myself to do things that are really impossible to do. I found my earliest inspiration to create by writing from a rock musician Id heard as a young child, Ian Gillan, with his abiility to evoke emotion from words, play with meanings and construct visions of one thing,while talking about another..it was a defining moment in my life, I grew up in a house fullof country music too, and Ive been influenced by that as well, in learning to understand how people feel words .How one relates emotion with words and how to reach the heart of what matters. From watching bands set up , the back stage glitter of rinestone suits and the truth of living life on the road, its taught me that what lay behind the words is often times more important then the words themselves..and by filling the voids with emotion from life, we can better express truth without details. Ive had several poems published over the years in collections and anthologies with other writers, and now I embark on my first "solo" book hopefully not my last ... |
